Penguins have a disability that sets them apart from other birds, as they cannot fly. Instead, they adapt to the challenges of their environment by walking and using their bellies to move around in the snow, and they also have amazing abilities in the water.
Similarly, Penguin Ceramics was created through my own true story of disability. Just as a penguin integrates into its environment with new ways of living, I use my new abilities to create complete ceramic works with my own hands, from start to finish.
The process of pottery allows me to develop my sense of touch, thus compensating for my sensory disability. Thus, each piece is special to me, as the form it takes symbolizes the invisible difficulties of disability that do not stop me, but, nevertheless, push me to surpass myself every day.
